The syntax of predicate-cleft constructions in Haitian : a descriptive update

In this talk (presented at the SPCL conference, Amsterdam, June 2007), we discuss and assess the available syntactic analyses of the so-called ’predicate-cleft’ construction, attested in Haitian and at least one other Caribbean French creole (Martinican), and we propose a new analysis which incorporates some but not all previous assumptions.
